Off-Piste #01 (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ 2025
Publication Design
Off-Piste is a biannual wall-scale magazine that explores how print-based communication design can resist algorithmic colonisation in contemporary reading systems. Comprising five A1 sheets that form one continuous piece, the first issue, “(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Flipping the Table,” invites readers to rethink how we read and share knowledge through collective participation, annotation, and playful interaction. Curating peer-contributed topics such as music, language, cooking, and cats, it transforms familiar subjects into new perspectives.
Rather than reproducing digital optimisation, Off-Piste reimagines publishing as a social, human-centred practice that values slowness, care, and plurality. It turns reading into a shared, embodied encounter, highlighting print’s capacity to cultivate attention and agency. Beyond the artefact, Off-Piste operates as an interdependent publishing system and social medium: a process for topic collection, a typographic logic of adjacency-based navigation, and a feedback loop where annotations seed future issues.
